What
comes to mind when you think of childbirth? The power of creation?
Harmony with nature? Joy? Love? Or do you think of pain, trauma, fear,
and crisis?
Take
the Fear Anxiety and Stress Out of Childbirth
You can train your mind and body to relax and experience a more calm,
alert and comfortable birth. Research shows that hypnosis training
can shorten labor, reduce pain and the need for painkillers, and greatly
improve your sense of well-being.
For too many mothers-to-be, and some fathers, negative associations—in
particular, fears, anxieties and pain—overshadow the wonder
and happiness of childbirth.Yes, I said fathers also. The
birthing experience is not just for the mother. It is also a very
intimate time that should involve the father. The experience of parenthood
should be shared by both parents for the most blessed of events which
is the birth of a child who needs both parents from Day One.
Natural Childbirth Training with Hypnosis (NCTH)
releases this “fear-tension-pain” syndrome (which can
lead to added complications and pain) and frees you to have a joyful,
relaxing and stress-free birth.
From Pain to Pleasure
Through hypnosis training, you will be able to dispel fears and call
upon your own endorphin response as a natural anesthesia, reducing
your pain and allowing you to fully experience the joy of your child’s
birth.
Childbirth hypnosis training uses deep relaxation and guided imagery
techniques to prepare you for a more comfortable pregnancy and safer
way to give birth. It focuses on your perception of the birth experience
and how you will respond to it.
With hypnosis training, you will learn how to associate the birth
experience with pleasure rather than pain, and you will come to realize
that there is no need for pain once your mind is no longer making
that interpretation of the experience. The ultimate goal is to completely
and fully experience the birth of your child in a positive and comfortable
way, rather than to try to “get away” from it or even
miss the experience through numbing fear or chemical painkillers.
In Harmony with Your Natural Instincts
When you are prepared for childbirth through hypnosis training, your
mind and body are in harmony with your natural birthing instincts.
You learn to trust your body and work with it so that you can approach
childbirth with an attitude of surrender, relaxation, and peacefulness.
Childbirth hypnosis training gives you a heightened state of awareness
and a strong sense of your inner strength, so you are more in control
during the birth—and able to welcome your child into the world
in a loving, relaxing, and nurturing way.

What
is Hypnobirthing?
Throughout the last century women gave birth both with and without
chemical anesthesia. There is however only one anesthesia that allows
for the normal and natural path of labor and offers no danger, that
of course is hypnosis which can help to alleviate not only the pain
of childbirth but also the fear and tension surrounding labor and
birth. Hypnosis is a totally natural state that offers deep concentration
and health stimulating powers along with pain relief. In short hypnobirthing
is natural childbirth with hypnosis. Our Natural Childbirth
Training with Hypnosis is a program that prepares a mother
during her pregnancy for a totally relaxed childbirth. The father
is also a very vital part of the child birthing process.

Individual Sessions, Personalized Training
The birth experience will never be the same for any two women, and
neither will the experience of hypnosis training. Unlike other programs
that are taught by a network of minimally trained facilitators to
groups in a class setting, Natural Childbirth Training with
Hypnosis is taught exclusively by Don Spencer, CCHt; a Clinical
Certified Hypnotherapist for the last 20 years.
Each hypnosis training session is done individually, and is highly
personalized to the unique needs and concerns of each mother. Mothers-to-be
generally see Don for about five 1 1⁄2 to 2 hours sessions prior
to birth. Sessions are held in home office. He can also be hired to
provide labor support during the birth—a service that is highly
recommended for hospital births—and for continuing sessions
after the child is born. Childbirth hypnosis can be used in conjunction
with other childbirth preparation training methods.
Fathers are able to choose their level of involvement, and are guided
during one of the sessions so that they know what to expect and how
to assist the mother in the delivery room.
A Better Start for Your Baby
Hypnosis training often eliminates or greatly reduces the need for
chemical painkillers, a distinct plus for your baby. In addition,
a shorter labor and less fatigue leave you fresh and alert for enhanced
bonding with your baby and birthing companion
Because your stress is reduced, your baby will not have to experience
the negative consequences of your fear and panic, such as the rush
of adrenaline that puts the body into survival mode. You don’t
have to put your baby through that. And when your baby is born, you
don’t have to experience the separation from your child that
can be caused by fear, fatigue or painkillers. After all, what matters
most is what you can give your child right from the start.
Research Shows,
Research studies have shown that the effective use of hypnosis for
childbirth results in shorter labors, reduced use of pain medication,
higher Apgar scores (measurement of the baby's well being at the
birth and even reduced surgical delivery (Caesarian delivery and
forceps).
Several studies have found a statistically & significant reduction
of 2-4 hours In the length of labor of mothers who used hypnosis
methods. A British study also found that 55% to 45 first and second
time mothers who used hypnosis methods required no medication for
pain relief, compared to only 22% of 90 women who did not use the
hypnosis techniques. Other studies have shown rates as high as 79%
for nonmalleable births when hypnosis was used.

How
We Begin
The first meeting is normally around 21 weeks, if everything has been
progressing normally. This consultation is to understand your expectations
of the birth of your child, any previous experiences, and if it is
planned for a home or hospital birth. Based on this information I
formulate a plan of action, and explain what each session will comprise
of.
If a female is suffering from depression, panic attacks, or has a
fear or phobia, primary or secondary tokophobia, then this needs to
be dealt with earlier, especially if they may have been taking anti-depressant
medication.
We also will discuss the fathers role in the birthing process. We
recognize that on occasion it is only the mother and that is fine.
After all, it is your body.
